Registry - Temporary replace

I've got a DialUp Networking problem that is baffling me, I suspect
there may be a registry problem but am a bit unsure how to temporarily
use an alternative registry.

I have two system partitions, both have XP on them and I hide one
whilst the other boots. I have two other partitions for data and both
are always visible to either boot option.

I would like to test the know good registry in the 'suspect' partition
but understand that if one just loads a registry it merely adds itself
to the existing one.

What I would like to do is disable or temporarily delet one and use
the other.

Anyone point me in the right direction here - I've got back up.

I have same thing but XP2 is XP1 frozen as of 12/15/03.
If u didnt clone 1 from other, it's not clear that
switching Registries is even feasable. I think I could
use XP1's in XP2 but lots apps wouldnt work, not sure
of the reverse.

Kinda. It replaces the common entries but adds new
entris found in the Reg being merged:
a b c + b* e = a b* c e (b is replaced)

Deleting all highest level keys then a merge *might*
work.

I might try this but ONLY because I have latest 14
copies of dreaded Registry & OTHER files (ntuser?..)
needed for XP to boot AND I can restore these from DOS
& I've restored it b4 & I have both XP's imaged. Pucker
factor would be HIGH tho.

I would wait 4 input from MVP like Doug tho. Lots of
red flags. HTH-Larry

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
