does anybody know of a way to search registry for specific words? i.e. a
program or maybe their already is a way in xp that i dont know about-the
reason im asking is wmp no longer plays dvds with a copyright protection
error 0xC00D1163 that the internet has little to no information about-one
post said the elecard mpeg decoder should be removed, and even though i did,
and where i could find it in registry, the wmp decoder checker is still
saying its there?a search shows no trace of mpgdec.ax, but im thinking it
still must be in registry somewhere? is there a quick way to check registry
for elecard or mpgdec.ax?

Regedit has a simple search feature in it. Only draw back is it's a single
match then requires a F3 to move to the next instance. For me the best
search for the Registry is a program called "RegSeeker".
Inside Regedit Click Edit and then the "Find" option to enter your search
string.
RegSeeker is found here: (Please, don't use the Cleaning functions)

thanx guys-just got back from the yearly xp reinstall--it seems all this new
drm protection software that ms and realplayer is coming up with is screwing
up everything that used to play-if it ant broke, why fix it? -no more drm
dowmloads for me-just had the same problem with comcasts
'new" rhapsody with realplayers new protection-luckily i can still use the
old release-probebly not for long though-i was noticing no mac release,
because they dont use all this broke protection

Rhapsody uses the Helix DRM software. Disaster awaits everyone
who reformats and doesn't backup the licenses first. DRM licenses
are almost as bad as EFS.

efs? not that i want to know if its anything like the problems i had--i wrote
rhapsody a nasty letter awhile back, when after yet another reinstall, it
said i couldnt authorize my pc, because you can only do it up to 3 times? how
rediculous? so if you sell a pc, upgrade to a newer one(like everybody
eventually does), etc., without deauthorizing-(who would even know your
supposed to),you cant use rhapsody downloads anymore? what a dumb system.
unbelievable
