We are getting the following message on over 200 PCs running Windows XP
professional at 2 seperate client sites, each running different hardware
platforms "One of the files containing the system's Registry data had to be
recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful."

This appears to have happened simultaneously after rolling out the most
recent Microsoft security updates.

This informational message seems to have no adverse affects on the system.

I'm having the exact same issue in my organization. It is only with XP SP1
users. I'm now applying SP2, which seems to clear up the problem. I'll keep
an eye out for a solution from Microsoft.

I forgot to mention that I read somewhere that it occurs on machines in an NT
domain with an "orphaned" policy -- whatever that means!
