registry item WS2IFSL query

Have found the following item in my machine's registry
HKEY LOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SETUP/WS2IFSL
Have heard this is could be spyware.
Appreciate any helpful advice.
Windows xp pro.

If it is part of some spyware program then it plays no active role at this
particular registry location. If you're concerned about an infection then
you should install a spyware scanner. It will locate the spyware and remove
it from where it is active.
 
What made you go looking for it? Have you been experiencing any
unusual/unwanted behavior?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?
 
No unusual behavior found. Just being cautious after reading post by Meebers
on 3/10/2009.
Apparently I was unduly suspicious.
Better to be safe etc.

It is a false positive, if you remove from registry your internet connection
will cease to function. Google it for more info.
