Try the System Restore utility. You can find this under
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools.
You will need to select a restore date that you know when the registry was
OK.
with the recovery console
you can copy the spare registry
from its' safe location and
use it to replace a corrupted one.
however, this doesn't method
doesnt' repair a crashed registry
file, it only replaces it with
one that has been saved and kept
in a safe place by windows.
i would try to avoid this
and instead use the repair installation
method with the windows setup cd.
however, inside the desktop you
have additional flexibility with
fixing the registry as booting up
via safemode too...

Is there a way to repair the registry from the repair console?
