I have two windows installations on my computer. One is
not working and it's because of a registry problem. So,
if I change those registry files using the other windows
installation, would I just make a mess with both of them,
or would I be able to fix the corrupted installation? I
have this question because I am not sure if both
installations are using the same registry or there are
two separate ones...!
Thanx

There better be two separate registries for the two
installations. If not, you may as well wipe the systems
and rebuild. The supported way to have two installs
on a single machine is to have each installed into its
own partition.

It is possible to boot one system, then mount a registry
hive of a different system, modify keys/values, unmount
the hive, and then try the other system.
In order to do this you need to know what needs to be
changed however. Do you know why the system is not
booting ?
