hi

I have cured a midi driver problem with my Behringer bcr2000 (it was listed
in Device Manager but not seen by audio apps).

This involved deleting the 2 wdmaud.drv Midi entries in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

This, I think, solved the "too many midi devices" problem of Win XP and now
allows my host apps to see the bcr2000.

However, before this I accidently deleted 2 wave (instead of midi) entries
relating to wdmaud.drv

Wave and Wave 7 (leaving wave 2 - 6 intact).

Is this important (it doesn't seemed to have any detrimental effect so far) ?

How do I re-enter them ?

thanks

You don't need them. Duplicates are often created when you re-install
drivers, but only one is ever used. It seems you've re-installed as many
as 8 times. You can safely delete all duplicate entries.

Sorry -- forgot to mention -- check under the following registry key:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Search this subkey for the named data value "Alias". Ensure the alias data
does not include an enumerated value (e.g., "wave" not "wave1", "midi" not
"midi1", etc).

You'll probably also find similar entries under ControlSet001,
ControlSet002,
etc. Amend each as appropriate. Once these are corrected, you can
safely remove the duplicate entries. from the Driver32 section. Reboot
when done.

Also, it should go without saying, but remember to backup BEFORE
editing the registry. Thast is, export each subkey you intend to edit.
