I tried to update my video drivers yesterday.

Im suddenly getting an error box that loads every once in
a while when i start windows. it says Windows registry
loaded a alternate copy or log. the loading was
successful.

Ive notcied when i play games it will suddenly crash, and
also, once in a while it will say i am having a driver
problem. Ive uninstalled all the drivers and re in
stalled them but this keeps showing up.

I have not tried any games tonight as of yet to see if
they crash

the video card is a ge force 5700 ultra and i am using
the most current drivers.

any help is appreciated

here is an update. i got frustrated and reformatted the
drive and when i reloaded XP it did the same thing again
before windows even started.

the window opened up saying it had recovered from a
registry failure.

when i try to install XP there are certain files .dll
ones it doesnt want to load. with nothing being on the
hard drive i dont think i understand.

is my Hard drive shot?

This has to do with the card and drivers. Remove the card (replace with
another), reinstall and then troubleshoot the drivers with your manufacuter.
The workaround is:

Recover from a Corrupted Registry Preventing Win XP from Starting
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q307545

In Recovery Console, change to the c:\Windows folder.

Type cd sytem32\config , and then press ENTER.
Type dir system , and then press ENTER.

Depending on your error message, use as follows:

Next type: ren software software.bak and then press ENTER.

or:

type ren system system.bak and then press ENTER.

Next type:

copy c:\windows\repair\software , and then press ENTER.

or:

copy c:\windows\repair\system , and then press ENTER.

Exit, reboot.
