Registry entries unable to delete

I installed a Maxtor one touch III stand alone 60Gig HD for backup and I've
had nothing but trouble with it ever since.
I removed everything or so I thought but when I use "regedit" to delete the
keys, eleven of them are "unable to delete all specified values"
Could this be because these keys are in the "system information file"?
Then I would have to go to the boot to the safe mode to remove these?
