Registry editing has been disabled by administrator error message

I have a Windows XP Professional operating system. I can log on to either my
local network, or to my own pc. When i log on to just my pc, I can
succesfully run regedit.exe. However, when I login with my usernam and
select the network, I am unable to run regedit. I have checked and am seeing
that both logins have Administrater privileges. Are there any suggestions on
what I can check to confirm if I do not have privileges to run regedit?

XP Professional has two forms of Administrator permissions: The local
administrator has permissions on the local machine only, while the
network administrator has permissions on the network.

Searching Google for the exact, word for word error message should give you
some solutions:

www.google.com/search?q=%22Registry+editing+has+been+disabled+by+administrator%22+group-policy+OR+mmc

.... and if that doesn't work:

www.google.com/search?q=%22Registry+editing+has+been+disabled+by+administrator%22+-group-policy+-mmc

I'm not sure you gave us the exact, word for word error message? That's
always helpful when posting computer support questions.
