Registry changes Not Saving

I can make changes to my registry that take affect and operate while the
computer is on, but if I shut down and reboot those changes disappear (as if
the registry reverted to the previous version. What would cause this. I have
McAffee and Micro-softs anti-spyware software always running. I have done a
full virus scan and spyware scan using both the Micro-soft anti-spyware and
spybot S & D. Help me please!!!

Any "Registry-watch" programs running; for instance "Tea Timer" in Spybot
Search and Destroy? Does turning off Tea Timer(Resident Protection) fix this?
[I don't use that myself; but you might check your settings in Spybot and see
if it's on.]
