Registry Broke

S

Steve Drake

All,

I have just downloaded latest office 12 beta, I them tried to uninstall the
last o12 beta, I got an error about failing to remove \.msg reg key. the
setup rolled back, I went into regedit, and I cannot remove this key, or
edit it.

Interestingly,it not just this key, its a few keys.

Any regfix tools for vista? I cannot do a chkdsk /f as it never does it on
reboot, i presume this is due to an issue with the registry not written to.

My other option is a reinstall, when is the next CTP out?

You should really post this in the Office 2007 newsgroups, there might
be others who have had this issue when removing the original beta 1.

You might try the following:

Run Regedit as admin (on the Start menu, right click Command Prompt and Run
as Admin, the type Regedit)
In regedit, find the appropriate key, right click it, and select
permissions. Check what permissions are set on the key or the value, and
adjust as necessary.

I dont think its an office issue, as i cannot edit the registry.

I can edit some parts

and chkdsk /f does not run a check disk at reboot.

thanks for the reply though :)
