registry and restore problems

i screwed up my registry because i was trying to lownload macfee and there agent told me to changes to the registy (i printed the directions) he told me to be careful but i guess i wansn't. i can't install all of mafee because comp's are missing???? and now i can't restore my systems. please help--

My first thing to try is; Go to start>run, type "sfc /scannow"(note the
space between c and /). Have your XP disk ready to insert in the CD drive.
After you try that, McAfee should install from the installation disk without
any problem. Just insert the disk and follow the prompts.
