Big Problem..help please

sorry if my story is to long

there was a virus on my computer and norton wasnt much of a help, so i
decided to re-store(reboot) my computer to factory settings.
so i restored it and now i cant even connect to the internet, the (loca area
connection) connection is missing, and some others stuff.
so i took it to comp usa to get it fixed. I told them my problem and so one
of the workers told me to go onto microsoft and download programs off the
site cuz i was missing certain things he said it was deleted while i
re-stored it.
Then i asked him if he could tell me what programs i will need to download
but he would'nt tell me.
so please help me
what are the programs i have to download?

im using my dads computer to download
i retored my computer and usualy it connects to the internet alredy right
but mines it wont
and i already tried to install my modem and at the end of the installation
it says that its unable to find connection

Well then...look in device manager and see if your modem is even installed.
if you see some yellow exclaimation marks...it means that your modem drivers
are missing.

If you know what the modem type is, you can go to the manufactureres web
site and download them.

If not, a utility such as HWinfo32 can probably identify it
