Registration Without Internet

David Faris

We have 12 computers using Windows XP without internet
connectivity. How do I register the Windows XP with
Microsoft? Is there a telephone option for giving the
product keys? The Windows was preinstalled by Dell when
we bought the machines but Windows still asks me to
register the software. I have the same problem with the
preinstalled Norton antivirus software. I would also like
to keep the WinXP upgraded but am not sure how to do
that. These machines are used by our school to teach
Microsoft Office but we do not have connectivity to the
internet.

David,

Activation can be done over the Internet or via the telephone - the
activation wizard will give you the correct number when you tell it where
you are.
You are NOT required to Register your copy of Windows with Microsoft.
This does not impact you ability to update or anything else.

As regarding updates - you can get these from Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
using the Windows Catalog and download them to any machine with an Internet
connection. you can then get these to the other machines on CD or whatever
method you choose.
