I dual boot win xp/pro and win98se. My question is : is
there only one registery for both operating systems or is
there one registery for xp and one registery for 98?

Two. Probably your Win 98 SE is on C drive and XP is on D. Each has a
seperate registry.

Each has its own registry. Settings you make while using one OS will
have no effect on the other.

Very much different. And BTW trying to have the two systems dual
booting from the same disk partition (let alone same folder) is heading
for disastrous fights

Thanks for the response: I already dual boot and each OS is on a different
drive so no problem there. I did a clean install of xp-pro [or i intended to]
but i still ended up with registery items from 98 in my xp registery. before
i deleted them, i wanted to make sure they were totally seperate, which each
of the responses say they are.

Each OS has it's own drive/partition and is hidden from each other. thanks
for the reply, now i can clean up my registery,

Thank you very much. I like your answer and can now clean each registery
with som peace of mind. (somehoe my 98 registery items got in my xp
registery when i installed xp/pro.
