the administrator I am runnibg XP sp2
Thanks Lakebum

See www.dougknox.com, Security, Disable/Enable Registry Editing Tools. This small VB Script will undo this restriction. Your AV software may warn you about the script, this is normal, since it is making a change to the Registry. Tell your AV software to allow the script to run.

You will also want to install and use one or more anti-spyware/malware products such as AdAware, Spybot Search and Destroy and/or Windows Defender. Malware will often put these restrictions in place to make it harder to remove.

Thank you that worked. But I am still receiving the message winlogon file not
found. I tried to look in the reg files to find the trogin that might have
added a file but its not there. I can still logon to windows though. Any
suggestions?

See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Startup Programs Tracker. This will show you what's loading (or trying to load) at Startup, and from where. The included help includes information on how to remove entries that are found.
