Register window

I recently tried to update one of my commonly used
programs. I was able to use the new version for a limited
time, thereafter I was prompt to register the software to
continue using the program. I just decided revert to the
old version that worked fine. I run a clean sweep and
uninstalled that version and reinstalled the older version.
After opening the program and restoring/converting back
data, I am prompted once again to register.
Somewhere, there is a file in my system that locks me from
using the program. Where can I find this file so I can
delete it?
