Hi, I am trying to open regedit so that the person from the Zune support can
further help me with my problem, but regedit won't let me. Can someone plz
help me?

Click Start, Run, type:

regedit.exe (Press Enter)

If Regedit opens, you need to remove the viruses before you go any further.

If Regedit doesn't open, click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK.
If any files are damaged or missing, they'll be replaced. You may
need to reboot afterwards so damaged files will be replaced. Try
Regedit again.

What happens when you try? Please review this link for what details you
need to include in a newsgroup post in order to get focused help:

http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

In the meantime, since failure of regedit to run is normally symptomatic
of virus infection, please make sure your computer is clean:

Will you please be more specific and tell us what happened when you click:

Start - Run - regedit [and press enter key]

Do you receive any error messages like "Registry Editing has been disabled
by your administrator."

If yes, then: (If Windows XP Professional)

1. Click Start - Run - type GPEDIT.MSC and press Enter key.
2. Expand to:
User Configuration \ Administrative Templates \ System
3. "Prevent Access to Registry Editing Tools" set the policy to Not
Configured.

Meanwhile, you can also try the following if you have other versions of
Windows.

1. Click Start - Run - type the following exact (or Copy and Paste it Run
window) the same in Run window and press enter type Yes if asked.

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v
DisableRegistryTools /t REG_DWORD

Hope this help, let us know! Sorry if muti-posted.

Your first step is to go through virus/malware removal.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with either Sysclean or Multi_AV, plus AVG Anti-Spyware
(formerly Ewido - http://www.ewido.net/en/). Do all prep/finishing work
and follow instructions to do all scans in Safe Mode.

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the link above (not here, please).

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local version of BigStoreUSA). Please be
aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even
if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to
be clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the
machine into a shop.
