Ramesh:

My son just called and told me he had a couple of problems on his laptop, a
dell inspiron 8500 with XP. The problems are:

1. The pointer runs to the upper right & lower left coners of the screen
with no action on his part. When the pointer does this, he can't enter
anything "until it lands.
There's probably a fix but I can't find one that works. Can you "point"
me/him in the right direction?
2. He must have done something to start the keys to click when he types and
its driving him crazy. Any ideas as to how to fix this?

Thanks

Hi Thnkit,

The following .vbs fix from Doug Knox removes the UpperFilters, LowerFilters registry values.
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs

Download the file and save it to Desktop. Open an "admin" Command Prompt and run the .vbs file by typing the following at the console window:

wscript.exe "%userprofile%\desktop\xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs"
