John

I ran regedit.exe and went to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/WINDOWS/RUN to
delete all the stuff that was there which could be
viruses and trojans, however there is one item named:
(Default), type: REG_SZ, data: (value not set) that
doesn't delete. My PC brings up a message that it is
unable to delete specified values. Is this supposed to
be there or is this some sort of virus refusing to be
deleted, and if it is a virus how do I get rid of it?
I'm currently running Windows XP.

Thanks in advance, John.

John,

That is normal, leave it alone. You are really needing to know more before
deleting from the registry.

Thanks for your help. By the way I noticed that there is
a file name: NvCplDaemon, type: REG_SZ, data:
RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\NvCpl.dll, NvStartup
that when I delete it off the Run list, it returns again
when I restart my computer. Is this some sort of virus
and if so how do I permanetely get rid of it? By the way
in your reply you stated that I should learn more about
the registry before deleting things, where can I get
info. on it?
Thanks, John.

Those are for your nVidia card. Check your settings from there.
