regedit - does not stay, disappear within a few seconds

I hope this is the right forum as I could not findthe '2000 general' forum.
start/run/regedit - the registry editor does not stay, It disappear within
seconds. How can I make the registry stay pernment. Thanks

Hi.
I just had the same problem, it affected other things as well.
I learnt on here that it was probably a virus,my AVG was up to date but found nothing.
I went to the processus and found something called "RUNJAVA" that was created the day I had the problem. I removed it and all came back to normal.
