Reg Hack for resolution

Vezner Merlot

Someone changed the resolution on a Win2K
machine. Now it boots up with a
sync rate too high for the monitor. I've
uninstalled the drivers for the
onboard Intel video, but after RE-installling, it
goes back to the high res
rate. Where is the resolution set in the
registry so that I can change it
so that @ least I can boot up to chnage back (&
of course select 'ask me
before...'). Or perhaps another way to be able
to fix this 'problem'.

Perhaps there is something I missed. Have you ever tried to adjust the re
in safe mode?

You can boot safe mode to set the frequency back down.

Have you ever tried to change screen resolution in vga mode or safe mode?
What happens? For me, nothing happens, cause it can't be done. Perhaps I'm
missing something here, but _I_ can't.
Anyway, thanks for your time anyway

Yes, many times. You'll need to post the details of what happens when you
try.

On my Windows 2000 SP3 machine with a gForce4 TI4600 graphics processor I
just did the following.

Boot into safe mode.
Using Device Manager, uninstall the video card.

Boot back into regular mode.

My computer came up in 16 color mode, automatically reloaded the nVidia
drivers and defaulted to 640X480X8bit @ 60Hz. I simply changed the
resolution back to 1024X768X32bit @ 75Hz. using Display Properties.
