What would cause reg changes when it comes to my CD-RW drive? I've a Samsung
CD-RW model 240B. It was acting up lately and when I checked the reg for
entries it had various entries for different CD-RW's.
Under Hkey local machine, system, control set 2, enum, IDE, there is
an entry for a samsung and also an entry for a Saoswng 240B. Obviously no
such animal exists. How would it be getting there though.
Control set 3 has the same entries. Control set 1 is fine, it only
lists the Samsung as it should.
I assume there are 3 control sets since there are 3 primary users of
this box which is running Win XP home. All three users access the CD drive
at different times.
When these entries accumulate I have problems with the drive not
reading or writing properly. I have to edit the entries out and leave the
Samsung only.
Any thoughts on why the reg would keep changing like this?
