I seem to have an issue with a new cpu. It was upgraded from a 1.7 p4 to a
3.2 prescott. The memory was upgraded also to accomodate the new chip. In
BIOS (upon initial BOOT) the chip would show up as it should, However once
you go into WINDOWS, and check again the chip is knocked down. Someone
suggested to re-install windows. I seem to remember that I can re-install
WINDOWS OVER the existing copy! Hopefully without messing up TOO many files,
folders etc. Does anyone know this to be true? If you have done this
previously, is there anything I should be aware of? I assume I BOOT with the
op-disk in the CD and go where?
Thanks for your help
