Refreshing Metadata Delays

We use the SYNCHRONIZE ALL option on the tool menu to update the messages in
all our newsgroups. Unfortunately, when we select a newsgroup, regardless
of the fact it has just been synchronized, we have to wait for the metadata
to be refreshed. Depending on the newsgroup, this can be a long process
that delays our interferes with our access to the messages (which
continually keep changing and refreshing). This leads to two questions:

FIRST, why isn't the metadata refreshed during the SYNCHRONIZE ALL
operation?

SECOND, is there a way to force a metadata refresh for all newsgroups so
they will be current as we enter each newsgroup?

Thank you for any help with this issue.

Have you tried a Synchronize All and then click on File and then
Work Offline? That should disable refreshing the metadata.

No, Robert, I had not tried that solution. Thank you for the
recommendation. While this introduces a few more steps than I would desire
to perform, it is also a very worthy work-around. My only concern, knowing
nothing regarding the purpose of a metadata update, is whether or not this
would rob my downloaded messages or headers of any crucial detail in offline
mode?

Thank You

It may interfere with downloading the bodies of messages for which you
have downloaded only the headers in the Synchronize All. I haven't tried
it enough to know if there are any more problems.
