Refresh rate

I have a 19 inch Dell Ultra Sharp 1907FP monitor. My graphics card is an ATI
Radeon X1300 Pro with 256 MB. The native resolution is set to 1280 X 1024,
which is the proper display setting.

I am not having any problems. However, I have read many postings in this
forum that suggest increasing the refresh rate for better video playback. My
current default refresh rate is 60 Hertz. The two refresh rate options are 70
Hertz and 75 Hertz.

Is there any reason to change the default refresh rate as I am having no
problems? Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Have a nice day.

The higher a refresh rate, on a standard CRT monitor, the less screen
flicker you will see. But, you can NOT go above the maximum recommended by
the manufacturer for your monitor. You should usually run at the recommended
maximum for eye comfort.

LCD monitors work just fine at 60hz refresh rate (different technology uses
no raster scan) and you gain nothing to little by increasing it to the
maximum allowed.

I thank all of you for your answers. I will leave the default setting where
it is. I simply did not know if I should change it.

I have always found it advantageous to ask a knowledgeable person before
attempting to do something I know nothing about.

Have a nice day.
