I've been using Win2K for years and have only recently gone to XP Pro.
In Win2K I made shortcuts that open Explorer to specific directories in
mapped drives. This saves me many mouse-clicks per day because I don't have
to open up drives and drill down through sub-directories. This was done by
grabbing any shortcut file and changing the target to
c:\Winnt\explorer.exe /e, \\ntha1\users\common. [last part is of course
the specific folder I wanted to open in].
[The "/e," makes Explorer open in a mode that shows the tree structure on
the left side and next level down on the right and continues acting that way
as you drill down.]
Going to XP I have changed the location to
c:\Windows\explorer.exe /e, \\ntha1\users\common
and it works.
EXCEPT that I am finding that when I select a file in a directory and change
the name of the file, it doesn't show that the file name has changed when
I'm done. I have to hit Refresh. It didn't work this way when I used it in
Win2K. I'm wondering how I can get the same functionality in XP, as I do
not want to have to hit Refresh.
