Hi everyone. New member here, name of Katrina.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop, with Windows 98 already installed.
Would someone be so kind as to walk me through the steps, in order to
remove the 98, and install XP Professional. I have tried fdisk, and
been confronted with a bunch of questions I am afraid to answer, for
fear of losing everything, in case I cannot complete XP installation.

The hard drive has been saved to disc, in preparation for the XP
installation.

My direct e-mail address is (e-mail address removed) Thank you for any
and all information.

fdisk-ing is the nuclear
option that should not be
easily used as a primary
consideration for anything
other than a last resort.

firstly, you may need to
have that old o.s. installed
if your new o.s. is an "upgrade
version"; without an old version
the upgrade won't install.

if your new o.s. is an upgrade
or not, the setup cd would walk
your through the setup of the
new installation. Then it will
give you the opportunity to
install the new o.s. over the old one
or install your new o.s. as a secondary
system so you will be able to boot
up with either to old o.s. or the new
o.s.

i have a feeling that you may be
having issues with your laptop and
decided to nuke the disk and install
a new o.s.

but can your laptop designed for w'98
handle the power of the w'XP,
eg, sufficient disk space, memory and
processor speed?
