Reformatting windowsXP

Hello,in the process of reformatting my hard disk,I am getting to the
Recovery Console, and the computer is asking me for my Administrator's
password.,but my password is said not to be valid.
I am then rebooting and opening WindowsXP,and when the computer asks me for
my Administrator's password,I write it in and no problems.
Question:
How many passwords is there in a computer? (besides the Windows one)
I already cheked my Supervisory Password and there is no problems there
either
Thanks for any help

The password that is needed for the recovery console is the password, if
one was set, on the hidden administrator account, that was created when
XP was first installed. You then probably created a second account with
administrator privileges and gave it a password which is the account you
use to logon to XP. The hidden administrator account has the name
"administrator" and unless you set a password for it, it's normally blank.

BTW you don't need the recovery console to format the drive or install XP.

Ok,what I understand of what I am reading here,is that a WindowsXP Clean
Install will actually wipe out and format my hardrive?....so I do not need
to get into the Bios to reformat?,and I will not need a password to do it
either? (I mean, the one that seems to be missing (Hidden Administrator
account?)
Thanks

Right, no password needed and no BIOS. Make sure you delete the current
partitions to get a clean install. Here are instructions:

Clean Install Windows XP

A Clean Installation will wipe out EVERYTHING, format the drive and
install Windows XP..

This has nothing to do with the BIOS other than the BIOS needs to be
set to boot to CD-ROM before the hard drive.

Since all data is being deleted, the hidden administrator is
irrelevant.
