Is it possible to reformat an NTFS-formatted external
firewire drive as Mac (extended) format? If so, how do I
do this in Windows XP Home Edition?

Remove HD from PC, install in Mac, then format as HFS+.
HFS is not a recognised disk format in ANY version of Windows.
