If you make your CD the first bootable device then you will also have the
opportunity to change devices 2 and 3 from within your BIOS. I always set
the first bootable device as CD, the second as floppy and the thrid as hard

Click the Win XP faq button and from the list that appears click on How do I
enable CD-ROM support in the BIOS.
If you follow these instructions and you put a cd into your cd rom on boot
up the cd will boot. If you put a floppy disk into your drive and reboot the
cd will be checked first- if no cd is in the cd-rom your pc will attempt to
acces your floppy. If there is no floppy in the floppy drive your pc will
boot from your hard drive.
