Kelly

I just resently contracted four Trojans and got deleted
them but not fast enough. They ended up corrupting some
of my files and I have no clue what files they are so I
need to reformat but I am clueless to how to go about it.
How do I go about reformatting my computer? thank you.

Thanks again,
Kelly

You should not have to reformat! That is a drastic step. There is something
called "repair install." You do it from your CD, without a reformat.

Hi Kelly

You may not have to reformat/reinstall XP.

Try this:

Start>Run - then type in "sfc /scannow" - without the quotes. You will have to have your XP CD to hand.

Failing that you can try a 'Repair Install'

If neither of those solve the problem then a 'clean' install is probable:

I should have added - please make sure that you get rid of all viruses before you try the first two options. Certainly with the last two options you will need to re-download and re-install all of the Windows Updates.
