Reformat

Hi I'm thinking of reformating my computer but I cant find my xp cd
If I reformat and install using my friends xp cd and my own cdkey would it
work??
Is there anyway around having to reinstall xp and still format
 
That depends--is it the same SKU and is either pc a brand name OEM
