referenced memory error

my interenet explorer had been acting strange for a while
now.
i will open one instance of IE but there are several
runing under the processes tab of the task manager. my
tab button will stop working and pop ups or windows i open
will now no longer close, i get a ding if i try to close
them. only solutions is to use task manager to force the
windows closed which then ends the session for all windows
opened off that original brower instance. also will get
(not ever time) this messg the instruction at 0x00e37672
referenced memory at 0x00000000....The memory could not be
read.
i have windows 2000 pro and IE 6

what the heck is that all about??
any help would be great!!

I am also gettiing the IEUPDATE application error(memory
reference error pop ups) recently, and do not find
anything on the MS/WEB to resolve it. Any help would be
much appreciated.
