#REF Links

Why do I get a #REF error or #VALUE error with a spreadsheet tha
calculates from another workbook? If I go to edit links and open th
source document, the formulas "magically" fix themselves. Still, it'
frustrating having to open the source file to fix
 
what formulas? Some, such as INDIRECT only work on OPEN workbooks.
