redWall Firewall 0.5.1
- A bootable CD-ROM firewall with IDS, IPS, proxy, reporting,
and spam filtering.

About:
redWall is a bootable CD-ROM firewall which focuses on Web-based reporting
of the firewall's status. It includes Snort, snortsam, dansguardian, and
support for fwbuilder, squid-guard, reporting (using
ACID/sarg/ntop/webfwlog), VPN (FreeSWan/PoPToP/Openvpn), and mail-based
alerting. Configuration data are stored on a floppy or USB disk.

Changes:
Spam filtering was added. Major feature enhancements were made in
reporting.

Please explain further. Does this firewall require being run off
a CD or can it also load up the normal way: off the user's HD?

I'm in the dark about these terms. Is this product suitable for a
"naive end useer," or does one have to be a heavy-duty techie to
employ it?
