Reduction in size

How do I reduce the size of letters in Excel, Word and Mail on my new
computer?

At the top of their respective windows you will see the Font "Times New
Roman" and "12" which is the size of the font's letters, by default.

Use the drop down menu 6.8.10,12, etc to increase or decrease the size of
the font's(Style of Writing) letters

The other way is to right-click on the Empty Desktop> Personalise> change
the resolution to suit your requirements.

Thank you for the reply, but 1. Your suggestion does not reduce the size of
the presentation if for example you want the information from a CD in Excel
and 2 the size on the desktop cannot be reduced below 100%, which is too
large for me.

I cannot understand why my old PC with the same OS has a very elegant size,
whilst on the new one I have a much larger size of presentation.

Any idea how I can reduce the size of emails in Mail?

It sounds like you have your display resolution set too low. This link will

If that doesn't help, post back with the size of your monitor, whether it is
a CRT or LCD flat panel, and if the problem always existed. You should
include whether this is a desktop or laptop and what version of Vista it is
running. Remember that we can't see your computer from here so you need to
be descriptive about the problem.

In almost any application (this is a Windows standard), the easiest
way to change text size is by holding down the Crtl key and scrolling
the mouse wheel. One way makes it larger, the other smaller.

Thank you and the others for the replies. Your link provided the perfect
solution. I use both computers on the same HP w22 flat screen monitor (how
do I find whether it is CRT or LCD?) with Duette switchover gear and could
not understand why there was a difference in presentation of reading matter
between one and the other.
Using your link I checked the setting on my old computer and found that they
differed widely on the new one. After making them both the same I now find
that the presentation on the new computer is exactly the same as on the old
one. Thank you again!

Glad that sorted it for you. A CRT monitor is the old-style big monitor like
a television set and an LCD monitor is a flat panel one. I suspect you have
a CRT, but it doesn't matter now that you've got the issue solved.
