How can I reduce the size of a photo to send it by mail.
1MB per photo is to much !

Thanks

You can download the free image resizer from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Download the file in one of your folder. Once done, double click on the file
to install it. Once done, you can right click on a photo (or a group of
selected photo) and click on Resize on the opening menu. A window will open
for you to select the size you want. This will add new files in your folder
with the word (small) added to the original name.

When you right click on a photo, if Resize is not listed on the opening menu
do the following:
Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...

Also, if you are on XP and use Outlook or Outlook Express, you should have
an automatic option to resize photos for e-mail. Click on a photo you want
to send, look at the Menu under Picture tasks and click on E-mail this
picture. A window should open, offering the option to resize the picture(s).
If not, running REG... noted above should repair this function.

Unfortunately, zipping a jpg file will not reduce its size.
A jpg file is an already highly compressed file, zipping it will do very
little to it. The only way to reduce the size of this type of file is to
remove pixels from it. This automatically reduces the quality of the file
but for e-mail it is not important, unless the recipient wants to print it.
