I want to reduce a file of 16 meg before I sent it on email, what program can
I use, zipping the file only reduces it to 15 meg?

That's a really huge file. Are you sure your recipient(s) can receive
something that large? Many people wouldn't be able to, not that Outlook has a
limit but many mail servers (ISP's or Exchange) do. I don't know of a
compression utility that would decrease the size by the amount you are
implying you'd like to reduce it to, or make it more manageable.

I would actually recommend using a webservice for this, such as
yousendit.com or dropload.com. You can upload the file there, include the
recipient's email address, and it will notify them with a URL to pick up the
file.

Perhaps your file can't be compressed more than that. Binary information is
rarely compressible by much. What type of file is it?

What type of file it is really makes a difference. Some filetypes are already
compressed. There are lots of different compression options out there such as
7zip, rar, zip, tar, etc... for data, if it's an image you could compress it
more using jpg, gif, or png. Let us know what type it is and we can give you
a better answer.

You should use a different way of transferring large files; email is not
really good at that; mail server limitations, possibility of corruption.
Depending on your environment, look for FTP or file sharing.

If your trying to send it externally you could always just upload it
to an online file share and then email the link. Some sites that do
this are

www.ShareCow.com

www.mediamax.com

www.megaupload.com
