Redirected my documents

Colin Gill

Hi,
Please can someone help me. I have configured redirect my documents on
windows 2000 server sp4, and have a group policy setup. Also I have a
profiles folder on the server, which is used to store the profiles and the
documents. However, whenever a user deletes a file from my documents, it
re-appears again, when they next logon. What can be done to rectify so that
the user can delete their own files and they will be deleted from the server
also.

Regards

Colin.

Hello Colin,

1) On a workstation open My Computer > Tools > Folder Options >View tab and
scroll to the bottom. Make sure Use simple file sharing (Recommended) is
NOT checked.

2) On a workstation open My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > Offline
Files tab and make sure "Offline Files" and "Synchronize all offline files
before logging off" is checked.

3) Have you tried Enabling the "Do not check for user ownership of Roaming
Profile Folders" policy setting on a GPO linked to an OU for the
workstations?

4) Are you getting any Errors in the Application event log of the
workstations? If you are, and this policy change does not provide relief
please post the Event ID:, Source: and complete Description of the event(s).
Also, what operating system and Service Pack are the clients machines
running?

5) If the client machines are Windows 2000 verify the users have NTFS
permissions that enable them to Write files at the root of drive where the
%SystemRoot% is located.

6) Pull the network cable from the back of a machine and delete a file in My
Documents, plug the cable back in and see if you get an offline files icon
in the taskbar. If you do, click it and let me know if it has the following
message:

"You are working online on '<server>', but changes you made offline
have not been synchronized."

7) Do you have any third-party network clients on the workstations?
