Redirect DOS LPT through USB error

A

Andrew Lowe

I'm using a DOS program and need to redirect an LPT port
through to the USB printer. I'm using windows XP and the
computer isn't on a network.

I've shared my local printer and tried to use the command

net use lpt1 \\computer name\printer name /persistent:yes

However, when I do this it gives me an error
message "System error 1231 has occured. The network
location cannot be reached."

When I use net view \\computer name it correctly shows me
the printer as availablke

Any ideas - its driving me crazy !

Andrew,
I'm using windows XP and the computer isn't on a network.

You have to disable the "Media Sensing" or you have to install a dummy
network card, such as the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter"

Kind regards,
