redeploy package question - msi

It happened a few times I had to modify an existing msi package that
was already assigned to certain domain computers using group policy.
After modifying the msi package I redeployed it using ADUC and the
software installation was indeed performed at next reboot, but none of
the modifications were included in the redeployed package.
Is this by design (we have a windows 2000 AD domain with XP SP1
clients) ?

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "redeployed it using ADUC"? Did you create a new GP
with the new software package or did simply modify the files on the
share redeployed the old package via ADUC?

cheers,

Florian

Thanky you for your answer Florian.

"redeployed" does not mean to create a new policy, it means to actually
redeploy the package which has meanwhile been modified (Group Policy ->
"Computer Configuration" -> Software Installation -> Select Package ->
"All tasks..." -> "Redeploy Application"). Hope this is clearer.

Thanks.

Yes, I just wanted to make clear that you used the "Redeploy" option the
Policy Editor gives you.
Does eventlog show up with an error messages? What changes did you make
to these files?

cheers,

Florian
