red X's

I can receive the images sent in with Email, but when I forward the Email,
the recievers, get only little red X's, in place of any image, computer
drawn, or loaded pictures, etc. What is wrong, can anyone tell me? It
hasn't always been this way. I can't remember how long that this has been a
problem, so I don't know that system restore would help, since restoration
only seems to go back about 3 months. I am using Windows xp.
