I've addressed this to Kelly, but any other input will be appreciated.

Hi Kelly,

I can't seem to find the original post, but a week, or so, ago, I posted a
question about not getting pictures on web pages. You responded with the
information pasted below. The HKEY entries checked correct, but when I did
the Run commands, in each case, I got the message that the module could not
be found.

At this point, I have to admit, I'm lost!

TIA, JAX
Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg
For Content Type, it should read "image/jpeg".

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg
For content Type, it should read: image/jpeg

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif
For Content Type is should read "image/gif"

If it already set to that, go to Start, Run and type in: regsvr32 /i
shdocvw.dll, regsvr32 /i shdoc401.dll,regsvr32 webvw.dll and regsvr32
thumbvw.dll (for upgrades).

Hi PA Bear,

Let me give you a little history on this issue. I have been having problems
with pictures on web pages. I have followed all the suggestions to other
posters, i.e., java, activeX, settings and so on. There was one post in this
group by someone having the same problem. An MVP responded and advised them
to compare a key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. I went to compare the key on my
machine and found there was no such entry. I attempted to post to the MVP
via the same thread but somehow, it would not alloy me to do so. After quite
a bit of research on what was supposed to be in the keys for both jpeg and
gif, I came up with information that probably something I have installed
rewrote the registry to give it sole access to those files. That's as far as
I have been able to get, until now.

Running search only brings up regsver32 in system32. It seems to ignore
anything past the entry of regsvr32. System 32 ver. is 5.1.2600.0.

Thank you, JAX

In your instance, Regsvr32 is a command. Check for these files & versions:

shdocvw.dll

shdoc401.dll

webvw.dll

thumbvw.dll

It sure sounds like the work of "hijackware" to me, JAX (as do most of the
problems you've posted about recently).

Thanks PA Bear,

I ran sfc /scannow and it seems I was missing some .dll's. That was my
thought when I attempted to use Kelly's information. Web-site pictures are
not a top priority to me. That is why I put off doing anything about it,
until I had a need to go to the following site.
http://www.nationmaster.com/
I was, and still am, unable to see the maps, etc, there. The .dll's you have
listed are inaccessible.

I run AVG and Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, SpywareBlaster, etc, including a couple
of on-line scans. Everything checks clean.

BTW,> "It sure sounds like the work of "hijackware" to me, JAX (as do most

problems you've posted about recently)."

I have only posted about three problems in the years I've been to the
newsgroups. You must have mistaken me for someone else.
