Red square, blue triangle and green circle Icon

Chris

Hi I have a problem with certain web pages. I get a box
appear in the top left hand corner of the screen with a
red square, blue triangle and green circle.

This only happens on certain pages, usually when I click
on a link which automatically downloads software.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?

Many thanks

Chris

Here's the fix, courtesy of Alan Edwards, MVP:

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
(QuickTime by the looks of it and if so, I believe they have a fix)
The key does not normally exist.

Hi Frank

Thanks for the advice below, now I can open .exe files
without a problem.

However, it is not just a problem with .exe files. If
there is a link for .pdf files I get the same icon. Any
ideas on a workaround for this?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Frank

Thanks for your help with this. I removed the .pdf key
just by deleting it I assume this is correct?

After deleting it, i went to the page I have problems with
and I still have the same problem.

When I went back into the regedit the key was back.

Am I missing something here?

Many thanks for your help with this.

Chris
