Help Please, I am using an external USB hard disk drive with an Ext2/Ext3
volume on it. When I remove that USB drive, the drive letters I have created
with "IFS Drives" (a free utility) of the control panel still persist. I have
tried everything to remove the drives but they still show up as the drive
letter with a big red ?.
Can anyone tell me how I can delete these, now, nonexistent drives?

Thanks

I'm guessing because the IFS Drives loads a device driver to recognize
Linux volumes. If you use Windows to disconnect, the IFS utility doesn't
recognize it as a PnP event as Windows does.

Try disconnecting the drives via the IFS Control Panel before you
disconnect the drives.

Thanks, I gave that a try but they still show up. Do you think that something
in the registry can be modified to correct this?

I would suggest going to the site where you got the program and check
their FAQ's or if there any forums. If the IFS Control Panel doesn't
remove the drive references, the only other thing I could suggest (have
all other programs closed first) is to force a termination of the IFS
driver that might be loaded using the Task Manager. But I would still
check the site first.

Report back if you get a resolve,
