Red Alert C&C Windows 95

I have just got Red Alert Comand & Conquer on my Windows XP and whenever I
try to play Red Alert I get this message; The procedure entry point
SMapLS_IP_EBP12 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll.
If anybody can help me fix this problem then I would really be thankful.

Little bit of dé·jà vu going on me thinks.

Have you tried compatibility mode?

Either hold down shift when you insert the CD, or simply close the autoplay
window, then go to My Computer right click your CD-ROM drive icon and click
browse.

On the CD should be either an install or setup program, if you right click
that and go to properties, a new window will appear, you want compatibility
mode, so click the tab at the top.

From here you can choose to run the game in compatibility mode, you might
want to try them all - I'd guess that Windows 95 / 98 / Me will do the trick
however. You might also want to try checking the 256 colours and screen
resolution etc boxes as well if you get no luck in Win 9x mode.

Hi Ryan,

Try installing and playing that using 95/98 Compatibility mode.

To install a program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode, hold
down SHIFT as you insert the game CD, use My Computer to browse
to the setup program, and then skip down to step 1 in the list below:

To run an installed program using Windows XP's Compatibility Mode,
first right click the program and "Send To..." / Desktop (create shortcut).

1.. Right click on the shortcut to the program.
2.. Click on Properties.
3.. Click on the Compatibility tab.
4.. Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select one of these:
a.. Windows 95
b.. Windows 98
c.. Windows NT 4
d.. Windows 2000
5.. Under Display settings, check mark the mode that you think that is best:
a.. Run in 256 colors.
b.. Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution.
c.. Disable visual themes.

Click on Apply.Click on Ok.Double click on the program.

Of course, let's not forget to check for any patches or updates for that game.
A good place to find them is: www.avault.com/pcrl/patches_list.asp?letter=a

If you'd like to learn more information about compatibility mode, you can click the
link in the Compatibility tab that reads "Learn more about program compatibility",
or watch this Application Compatibility Power Point Presentation:

I am also having exact same problem! Have installed it fine, using the
compatibility options etc. But whenever I go to play it, it says:
"The procedure entry poing SMapLS_IP_EBP_12 could not be located in the
dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll."
Even if I change the compatability on the RA95 icon, it still says it!! HELP!

J

Jimmy S.

Hi Richard,

You might overcome that error by finding a copy of kernel32.dll
on your drive and making a copy of it to your RA directory.
