Recycle Bin

When I send things to the recycle bin they don't show up
in there. I have checked the properties for the recycle
bin and they are correct and should show the files. When
I click on empty recycle bin it asks if I want to delete
the 14 items but they do not show in the box. How do I
get it to work correctly.

Note: Files that were previously deleted will be permanently erased from the
Recycle Bin.

Create a notepad document and save it (any name will do).
Now delete the file so that it goes to the recycle bin.
Empty the recycle-bin.

To test, create another file and then delete it - does it now show up in the
recycle bin?
