anon,

Perform the following procedure. This will rebuild the Recycle Bin.

Close all running programs.

Go to Start / Run and type cmd and click OK. This will open a command prompt window. Leave this window open.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to open the Task Manager. Click the Processes Tab. Select "Explorer.exe" from the list of running programs. Press the "End Process" button. The Taskbar and desktop icons will disappear. Leave the Task Manager open and return to the Command Prompt window.

Type the following commands. (Pay attention to the spaces)

CD\ (Press ENTER)

rd /s /q C:\Recycler (Press ENTER)

exit (Press ENTER)

Go back to the Task Manager and clcik on File / New Task. Type Explorer.exe in the Run window and click OK. This should return the Taskbar and Desktop. Close the Task Manager.

Restart the computer.

Delete a throwaway file and try emptying the Recycle Bin again.

Thanks!

Ron,
Thanks, I'm having the same problem, but its with Windows Media. Will this
fix work with it also? Thanks again, and sorry if it seems like a noob
question, but I'm new to XP and don't know if there is a difference between
XP Pro and Media edition.
Thanks again!

Joe

Windows XP Media Center Edition is basically Windows XP Professional, but with the Media Center components installed so yes this fix should work.

Great, thats what I thought, but wanted to double check.
Thanks for the help!
